Our people

A local church is a local family in Christ that is led by Elders and helped by Deacons.

Our Minister

Having worked in Student ministry with UCCF, trained in churches in Edinburgh and Dundee and studied at Edinburgh Theological Seminary, Craig was inducted into the work of planting Galashiels Free Church in August 2022.
He, his wife Amy and their three children Tabitha, Charis and Peter moved to Galashiels from Dundee to begin the work. With a love of rugby, coffee and Fly Fishing, you can often find Craig at Netherdale where he is chaplain of Gala Rugby, Starbucks drinking coffee or at the Tweed pretending to know how to Fly Fish.

Our Elders

The Bible teaches that churches should be led by a plurality of elders. The Minister is not above the elders but is one of the elders. Galashiels Free Church has two elders locally who provide overall leadership and serve in different ways through the life of the church. They do this as members of the Elders of Buccleuch Free Church who are our ‘Mother Church’ under whose oversight we operate.

The elders exercise leadership in the church in a number of different ways. They meet together frequently as a group to pray for and decide on church matters. The different ministries throughout the church are ’elder-led’ with specific elders appointed in an oversight capacity to each ministry.
